The sound emulation is very wrong in places too, missing entire sound channels in some games, some audio just playing as noise because again, it's so old nobody really understood the audio chips properly back then. It doesn't emulate any of the raster effects, so games like Super Sidekicks 2,3,4 are unplayable, background effects are missing in the Metal Slug games etc. It requires specifically hacked roms to work around emulation bugs. because they came from less than legitimate sites (mostly chinese emulation pages) People tended to not like having their drives wiped after running the program a certain number of times or remote control backdoors being installed on their machines, so that pushed it further our of favor. various hack builds exist, but often they were also loaded with trojans / viruses etc. The last official version *barely* works on anything newer than Windows 98 without severe instability in many cases.
It was last updated about 20 years ago, it's from a time when even things like the CPU the NeoGeo uses wasn't fully understood, so there are various logic bugs.
